original 19th century antique american victorian era black enameled cast iron freestanding exterior residential newel post designed and fabricated by the dearborn foundry company, chicago, il. the oversized cast iron newel post features chamfered edges, decorative rosettes and a pyramidal-shaped finial. the weathered surface paint is consistent with age. two matching newel posts are available. salvaged from a chicago residence demolished in the 1960's. priced individually. measures 40 inches in height and has a 8 1/2 inch square base.
