largely intact early 20th century antique american "perfection cooling room" beveled edge glass plaque or panel salvaged from a built-in cabinet or walk-in cooler found within an old chicago butcher shop. the reverse-painted panel remains largely intact with "silvered" paint loss around the edges. the plaque would have been mounted (framed) against the cabinet (see "in situ" pictures for reference). bromann brothers was established around 1869 by cabinet maker heinrich bromann. during the 1880's bromann and sons were building hardwood display cabinetry for neighborhood grocery stores and other specialty stores (haberdasheries, women's clothiers, etc.). by the beginning of the 20th century bromann brothers began specializing in building and installing freezer cabinets and later walk-in coolers for neighborhood butchers and package goods stores throughout the west and north sides of chicago. the company continued operations well into the 20th century. bromann finally closed its doors in 1976. measures 18 x 12 inches.
