completely refinished old american stationary coffee table featuring a c. 1911-15 "sani-metal" four-legged cast iron base with original angled steel stretchers. the repurposed tabletop is comprised of old growth ponderosa pine wood boards spaced closely together within the surrounding metal frame. the all-metal table base was fabricated by the chicago hardware foundry co., chicago, il. part of their "sani" line, the table base was likely used in an old ice cream parlor with the original top (removed long ago) consisting of heavy gauge cold rolled steel with a porcelain enameled "onyx" finish. the fanciful tapered cast iron legs with bunted feet are structurally sound and stable. measures 39 x 21 x 20 1/2 inches.
