original 19th century antique american aesthetic movement carved cherry wood boxed newel post salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. the elegantly designed staircase newel retains the original finely turned and tapered finial or "cap" topped with an urn. the corners are adorned with graceful chamfered edges. features hand-carved bas-relief floral rosettes bunched within a diamond-shaped motif. original varnished finish largely intact. fabricated by palmer, fuller & co., chicago, il. measures 51 inches in height.
