original and intact antique american interior residential decorative "ceylon" pattern passage door mortise lock designed and fabricated by the p. & f. corbin co., new britain, ct. the mortise lock contains a lightly incised brass-plated faceplate comprised of stamped steel. the latch and dead bolts are made of cast brass. the lock box is cast iron with original baked black enameled or "japannned" finish. measures approximately 5 1/4 x 3/4 x 3 1/4 inches.
