hard to find 19th century ornamental cast brass "arabic" pattern interior residential doorknob escutcheon or rosette. fabricated around 1889-95 by the mallory & wheeler co., new haven, ct. exceptional design with intact and largely uniform surface patina. traces of original black enameled inlay remain. the unique "watered groundwork" pattern was designed and patented by charles and frank andrews for mallory wheeler in 1889. measures approximately 1 3/4 inches in diameter.
