original late 1890's antique american richardsonian romanesque style "florence" pattern ornamental cast bronze exterior residential entrance door backplate, fabricated by the p. & f. corbin hardware co., new britain, ct. the oversized doorknob backplate features densely arranged acanthus leaves found at the very top and bottom. the protruding collar or thimble is original and intact. contains a cylinder lock opening. mostly uniform surface patina. measures approximately 13 x 3 inches.
