original late 19th century american victorian era ornamental cast brass exterior residential entrance door backplate with original swinging keyhole cover intact. the long and rectangular doorknob backplate is adorned with flowerpots, leafage and floriated scrollwork. the pressed yellow brass collar or "thimble" is free from damage. sporadic oxidation evident. likely fabricated by the penn hardware co., reading, pa. measure approximately 8 x 2 inches. two matching backplates available.
