early 20th century american vintage industrial rolled rim factory office waste basket or trash can manufactured by the northwestern expanded metal co., chicago, il. contains an older red paint finish, with traces of the original green enamel found along the base of the can. designed and patented by joseph jantusek. the basket is composed of a single section of sheet metal which is "slitted and expanded" to form a uniform diamond mesh. the flared top with rolled rim or hoop is intact. embossed manufacturer markings on the bottom. measures 15 inches in height. several other variations available in stock. from a downtown chicago office building.
