late 1920's original american industrial freestanding woolworths five and dime store garment or clothes rack likely fabricated by the garment rack co., new york city, new york. the simple and sleek mobile clothing rack is comprised of a multitude of threaded end heavy gauge steel pipe, interconnected with unique ball finial elbow joints. the original copper-plated finish remains somewhat intact. a single low-lying steel pipe stretcher provides added support and security. the cast iron double-legged brackets remain in great shape. salvaged from an old woolworth's retail store located in chicago. dates to the 1930's. measures 51 x 16 x 65 inches. manufactured by the garment rack co., new york. refinished and treated with a clear coat lacquer.
