very unique american depression era single-sided wall-mount "rooms" flophouse sign designed and fabricated by the art glass novelty co., dundee, mi. the thick plate glass sign was salvaged from the old grand hotel (non-extant), a single room occupancy establishment located on th south side of chicago. the sign contains silver metallic foil lettering and border against a black background. the edges are deeply grooved or scalloped. original folded and pressed tin sleeve contains two opposed screw holes for mounting purposes. measures 8 1/2 x 3 inches.
