original and largely intact c. 1940's american industrial painted wood "eagle" hardware store countertop display cabinet fabricated by or for the eagle lock co., terryville, ct. the brightly colored advertising display contains a hinged top featuring a spread-winged eagle. the interior is divided into a variety of compartments based on the type of cabinet lock it contained. great overall condition, with light surface wear evident. the eagle lock company, established in 1833, was once the largest trunk and cabinet lock make in addition to being on the forefront of padlock security during peak production. the company was headquartered in terryville, connecticut, with an additional factory located in ohio. eagle lock closed its doors in 1975. measures 14 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches.
