completely intact and refinished vintage industrial compartmentalized bare metal highboy dresser. fabricated around 1910-20 by the simmons manufacturing co., kenosha, wi. the very plain, yet elegant and utilitarian cabinet is comprised of reinforced folded steel treated with a protective clear coat lacquer. the original knob drawer pulls are intact. the finely turned legs retain the original swivel casters. simmons was known for their furniture and bedding, designed especially for "hospitals, hotels, tourist cabins and steamships." the highboy measures 47 x 32 x 19 inches.
