original late 1930's vintage amercian medical supply cabinet salvaged from the old cook county hospital (chicago, il.). the refinished instrument cabinet is comprised of heavy gauge cold-rolled furniture steel with a brushed metal finish. the cabinet's interior retains the original sterile white enameled finish, along with three fully adjustable plate glass shelves (mounting brackets or "clips" included). the hinged cabinet door has a central rectangular-shaped glass viewing pane mounted firmly within the frame. original sunken center knob pull and barrel lock (key lost long ago). the tapered four-legged base is comprised of angled steel with original storage shelf and steel swivel casters intact. fabricated between 1935-45 by the american metal furniture inc., indianapolis, ind. measures 20 x 16 x 56 1/2 inches.
