c. 1930's american art deco streamlined folded and pressed petite-sized steel side table or nightstand. the single pull-out drawer cabinet contains a well-proportioned "waterfall" profile. fabricated around 1935-39 by the simmons mfg. co., kenosha, wi. the sleek chrome-plated aluminum handle is original and intact. the opened-ended bottom compartment provides added storage space for books, etc. brushed metal finish treated with a clear coat finish. originally founded as the northwestern wire mattress company by zalmon g. simmons in 1870, the simmons company was one of the largest producers of wire mattresses, steel springs and iron and steel beds. measures 15 x 14 x 23 inches.
