original c. 1900's antique american art nouveau style ornamental wrought bronze interior residential passage door backplate or escutcheon. the "americus" pattern doorknob backplate was designed and fabricated by the reading hardware company. the backplate contains a mostly uniform surface patina. measures approximately 7 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches.
