very nice early 20th century intact vintage medical clear glass specimen bell jar, manufactured by the wm. v. willis & co., philadelphia, pa. retains the original black painted grooved wood base. bell jars were often used to protect and display delicate objects. in scientific settings, the jars were used as laboratory equipment for creating vacuums. the odd fired clay botched school art piece or "eye blob" is not included. measures 14 x 11 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches.
