c. 1900's antique american ornamental cast bronze interior residential doorknob backplate or escutcheon possibly fabricated by russell & erwin or the sargent hardware company. the backplate retains the original rotating privacy latch finger twist or handle. the escutcheon contains an egg & dart border with two striking anthemions located at the top and bottom of the backplate. nice uniform surface patina. measures approximately 10 x 2 1/4 inches.
