original and intact c. 1900's compact american antique industrial cold-rolled pressed and folded steel portable steamer trunk or chest with yellow brass clasp and opposed drop handles. the medium-sized, lightweight trunk has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the corners and bottom are reinforced with riveted joint steel straps. great overall condition. spacious interior. the original faux wood grain paint finish was in poor condition prior to removal. the curved or "humpback" hinged top opens and closes with ease. the exact chest fabricator is not known. the trunk measures 22 x 14 x 13 inches.
