all original late 1940's american industrial telescoping "adjustrite" pressed and folded steel factory stool with brushed and sanded bare metal finish. the swivel stool consists of two relatively movable members combined or overlapping for telescopic movement, with one of the members secured to the seat of the stool and other member secured to the legs and/or base of the stool. the coacting movable members function in such a way to lock the seat at various selected positions. the four-legged x-shaped base is comprised of cast iron. fabricated by the adjusto equipment co., toledo, oh. the first incarnation was designed and patented by james a campbell in the early 1940's. great overall condition. the salvaged chicago stool once belonged to a university of chicago chemistry laboratory.
