original late 1920's original american art deco skyscraper style exterior residential "detroit" pattern doorknob backplate or escutcheon likely fabricated by lockwood or sargent. the entrance door backplate is comprised of bronze with original nickel-plated finish largely intact. features a unique "steeped" pattern with pointed edges extending from either edge. the brass collar or thimble is tightly affixed to the backside of the doorknob backplate. measures 8 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches.
