original 19th century american antique ornamental cast bronze interior residential passage door "screwless spindle" doorknob designed and fabricated by the chicago hardware co., chicago, il. the doorknob contains a tightly affixed oversized bronze and iron shank designed specifically to accommodate the chicago-niles mortise lock. the banded rim with knurling shows very little surface wear. the deeply recessed regions contain a dark metallic bronze inlay used to accentuate the casting detail. measures approximately 2 inches in diameter.
