remarkable museum-quality c. 1930's machine age aluminum and bakelite table or desk lamp designed by the highly regarded industrial designer walter von nessen. the american iconic art deco table or desk lamp is comprised of finely machined stepped and turned aluminum rings or discs accentuated with narrow bands finished in enameled black and burnt orange bakelite. the lamp is surmounted at the top by a shade composed of six equally-spaced horizontal discs or rings, separated by metal tubular rods. the original cylindrical white opalescent glass shade or diffuser (originally inserted into the middle of the discs) was lost long ago. the three steeped threaded end caps or finials mounted on the topmost ring are original to the fixture. the on/off toggle switch is fully functional. original socket rewired. felt bottom intact. fabricated by pattyn products, detroit, mi. surface wear evident.
