100 original c. 1920's solid cast brass doorknobs salvaged from the lakeshore drive athletic club building. the historically significant lakefront building was designed by renowned chicago architect jarvis hunt. the towering beaux-arts style building opened in 1927. each doorknob features a unique footed shank with two threaded set screws. the moderne style knobs are adorned with deeply incised graduated rings. fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. threaded solid steel spindles included. nicely aged surface patina. priced for the lot.
