exceptionally well-built late 19th century american industrial locomotive mechanic multi-drawer workbench tool chest. likely designed and fabricated or machined by the mechanic to suit his needs. the chest is built primarily of heavy gauge pressed and folded steel with allover solid oak wood stretchers or rail guards mounted from top to bottom. the industrial cabinet contain a multitude of drawers comprised of steel with wood drawer fronts. original brushed steel knob pulls remain intact. the hinged top contains a nickel-plated "finger lift" front and center. the storage cabinet has been thoroughly refinished and sealed. salvaged from an old chicago train yard roundhouse. measures 28 x 16 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches.
