original and intact c. 1930's antique american industrial electric substation open-ended switchboard cautionary or danger porcelain enameled die cut steel exterior sign fabricated by the burdick enamel sign co. chicago, il. the sign contains white text on a weathered red background that reads "danger frame energized." the sign would likely have been posted near transformers, energized power transmission lines, or switchboard panels. the sign contains a total of six mounting holes. the porcelain finish is largely intact. surface wear at edges is consistent with age and date of manufacture. the burdick enamel sign company operated from 1895-1950. measures 26 x 2 1/2 inches.
