two original hard to find 19th century 30 x 6 inch figural tiles sets designed and fabricated by the american encaustic tile company, zanesville, oh. the neoclassical style caryatid man and woman figural tiles were salvaged from a chicago greystone built around 1896. the tiles exhibit an allover crazed surface. manufacturer markings are lightly incised on the backside. priced for the pair.
