multiple early 1920's farley and loetscher factory lunchroom swing-out tables now available for purchase

this week urban remains acquired multiple swing-out seat lunchroom tables removed long ago from the former farley and loetscher millwork factory founded in 1875 by christian loetscher. located in dubque, ia., the mill was incorporated in 1881 as the farley and loetscher manufacturing company. by 1910 the farley and loetscher factory was turning out 500,000 windows and 300,000 doors with 1,200 to 1,500 carloads of lumber used annually.

the latest acquisition has replenished our selection of cast iron swing-out brackets, complete table (with or without customized wood tops), left, right & center bases, multiple stretchers or "ladders," and pressed and folded sheet steel sections. some of the components and two complete table bases have been refinished, while other parts retain their original finish.

the swing-out table bases were designed and fabricated for the sani products company, sani building, chicago, il. sani products was formed to merchandize the products of the marietta mfg. co., if indianapolis, ind., and the chicago hardware foundry company, of north chicago, ill. the traditional "no 314" sectional eight-seat swing out type table base contains three distinct cast iron bases or legs interconnected by a two robust ladder-like girders or stretchers. the simple yet elegantly designed iron swivel brackets are equipped with solid maple or birch wood seats. a rectangular-shaped tabletop (originally vitrolite or vitreous enameled cast iron) was bolted firmly along the underside of the opposed bases, marked either "e" for end or "c" for center. the original marble-like solid vitrolite glass "sani" tabletops are rarely found with the tables.

for years now, urban remains has carried the largest selection of authentic "sani" swing-out factory tables in the country. please contact us about additional tables containing multiple, interchangeable configurations. "sani" tables were constructed in sections of 8, 12, 16 and 24 feet, with each section containing 4 seats. the fine grain cast iron bases were typically finished in a heavy white or black enameled finish. individual components, including original wood seats will also be available for sale.
