several truckloads of industrial factory and office furniture were removed from the defunct robers electric company, located on morgan street. the great majority of the building has been demolished, but a landmarked building within the complex will avoid the wrecking ball. in fact, the facade will be restored since the building is part of the protected fulton market landscape.
the sizable amount of industrial factory and office furnishings were removed through our relationship with heneghan wrecking, who we recently worked with at the gargatuan a. finkl & sons foundry. there we gained access to several green porcelain enameled light fixtures, workbenches, office desks and chairs, signage and so on.
to salvage these american industrial artifacts that otherwise would have been scrapped, we had to moved quickly to remove anything and everything within a two day window of time. the crouse-hinds "explosion" proof pendant lights with cages were a great find, especially in quantity.
the now defunct roberts electric company -- located on morgan street in chicago, ills -- contained both a machine shop, factory, and offices. the company specialized in fabricating components used in conjunction with military aircraft. most of the fixtures we found dated from the early 1920's through the 1950's.
