will the post-fire osborne and adams building "artificial stone" facade be saved?

the "chatter" of several concerned chicagoans with a keen eye on the rapidly diminishing residences and commercial buildings constructed in the 19th century may have been overheard by the developers who brought national wrecking onboard to clear a group of extant buildings/structures located along a strip of lake street in preparation for the construction of a new high-rise.

unfortunately, the clearance protocol involves the demolition of a post-fire chicago building - one of only a handful left standing in chicago's loop. perhaps more importantly, would be the complete loss of the osborne and adams leather company building facade, comprised of a highly experimental "artificial stone" used at a time when the stone quarries were slammed with countless orders  of cut limestone to quickly rebuild within the "burnt district," a grim visual reminder to the chicagoans who witnessed the great chicago fire of 1871 and its aftermath.

the facade is now dressed in scaffolding, which means that it will have to be demolished "by hand" since the building towers over the "l" tracks located only a throwing distance from the building. whether the precast building blocks will simply be plucked off and haphazardly discarded down a debris chute or removed with care, documented, and stored for reassembly (perhaps in a similar fashion to the cedar hotel) remains unknown.
