a closer look at the chicago art institute's collection of displayed building ornament

i spent a few hours over the weekend at the chicago art institute photographing their collection of architectural artifacts on display along the outer walls of the light court or atrium. nearly a year has passed since i finally had time to carefully document both the artifacts on display and later marvel at the reconstructed chicago stock exchange trading room.

i didn't photograph each and every artifact on display, so the assemblage of images below is based on a strictly subjective set of criteria based on my interests and/or how certain pieces relate to the objects housed in the bldg. 51 collection. in the coming weeks i will post several images taken while i wandered around the trading room.
