a look back at the 2008 demolition of veterans administration lakeside hospital

a found a bag of diminutive stainless steel letters and numbers the other day. completely slipped my mind i salvaged them over 10 years ago from veterans administration lakeside hospital (1950). i believe schmidt, garden, and erickson were the architects.

the brushed steel letters discovered in a bag the other day. they were affixed to a slab of marble in the lobby near the mailbox. no time capsule was found behind the marble slab (research at the time indicated a capsule planted there).

i have a few images - mostly shot on the fly during the salvage - when the building was being pounded into oblivion by american wrecking (are they still around?) if memory serves me right. i had many more images of the demolition, but they were forever lost when my computer crashed.
