returning to cook county hospital to document latest restoration efforts on facade

i haven't documented restoration work at cook county hospital (1914) since late last year. while the majority of the facade remains hidden behind a web of scaffolding covered in a white shroud, the east side of the facade remains exposed with ongoing repair work evident. 

it's clear from the images that the elements and/or deferred maintenance did a number on the structural integrity of the two segmented fluted white glazed columns, pier and heavily corroded steel beam.

cook county hospital was designed by architect paul gerhardt. schmidt, garden, and martin were the supervising architects. the hospital was built between 1912-1914 by john griffiths & son company. the terra cotta was likely executed by northwestern.
