a look back at images of tribune tower's continued transformation in 2019

my efforts photo-documenting howells and hood's tribune tower (completed in 1925) transformation and/or restoration in 2019, are summarized in an extensive chronology shown below. the curated exhibit of photos, culled from thousands of images taken of tribune tower for nearly two years now, is presented in chronological order from beginning to end of 2019.
while time constraints limited the number of visits i made to the building this year, i hope 2020 allows more time to continue meticulously document the historic chicago building as it repaired/restored on the outside and renovated on the inside. thankfully, i was given unabridged access to any and all floors, including the tower lobby, mccormick's office (or rather what's left of it), and the printing press this summer, when i made a visit to evaluate whether to purchase the original steel-framed windows (with original fanciful p.f. corbin sash hardware) that at the time, were being carefully extracted for documentation before being replaced with windows comprised of contemporary materials free from lead-based paint and asbestos-containing window caulk used at the time the building was built in 1925.
