time spent scanning and editing the early photographic work of richard nickel while he was a student at the institute of design has been a welcome change from enlarging his images documenting the destruction of the garrick, cable, republic, cse, etc. during the 1960's.

mounted richard nickel silver gelatin print photographs from "serious photograph" series. the early id work is dated 1949.i suspect the image of the plane refueling was taken in korea when nickel was called back into service in 1950.
nickel was using a rolleiflex at the time.
