a collection of recently digitized albumen and silver gelatin prints taken by prominent late 19th and early 20th century chicago photographers, including, but not limited to, james w. taylor, ralph cleveland, and henry fuermann and sons. fuermann was the preferred photographer for early 20th century commissions (e.g., "jewel boxes," midway gardens, etc.). by chicago architects louis sullivan and frank lloyd wright.
the majority of the photographs were taken during the 19th century of chicago's newly-built skyscrapers. additional images will be added to this collection as time permits.
