a largely intact 19th century five-story mixed-use commerical building featuring a unique facade comprised of lightly incised lemont and bedford limestone, will be demolished in the coming weeks. located at 1329 n. clybourn avenue, the victorian-era structure was built in 1884, housing a funeral parlor and wholesale grocer (frederick kosche and son (frederick and ernest f. kosche) on the first floor and boarding rooms on the upper floors. the building was later occupied by garment wholesaler hyman and company.
the exterior remains laregly intact, with orginal ornamental iron storefront and oversized chamfered paneled wood exterior door leading to upper floors. the metal or wood cornice was removed long ago. will provide updates when time permits, including interior images.
