louis h. sullivan-designed terra cotta ornament from home building association bank (1914) join the colletions of eric j. nordstrom and bldg. 51 museum

multiple glazed terra cotta fragments (including a largely intact border module) salvaged from the exterior of louis h. sullivan's home building association bank (1914) located in newark, oh., have joined the collections of eric j. nordstrom and the bldg. 51 museum. the ornament was designed by louis h. sullivan, modeled by kristian schneider, and executed by the american terra cotta and ceramic company located in crystal lake, illinois. 

the terra cotta ornament was made available through "the art, artifacts & architecture of the louis sullivan building of newark, oh. auction, held by the licking county foundation to raise money needed to restore the bank building's interior, including its intricately designed and richly colored wall stencils, executed by louis j. millet. 

eric j. nordstrom bank building images taken after the exterior was restored with newly fabricated terra cotta produced by the boston valley terra cotta company, buffalo, ny.
