c. 1890's antique american ornamental cast iron flush mount interior residential rim lock with intact cast brass privacy or "nightlatch." the box lock was fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. original spring-loaded cast brass latch bolt remains in excellent working condition. original skeleton key lost log ago. salvaged from a chicago victorian cottage undergoing demolition. naturally aged surface patina with traces of the original "japanned" or baked black enameled finish left intact. measure approximately 4 x 3 1/2 inches.
