c. 1880's original american eastlake style ornamental cast brass "oriental" pattern doorknob backplate manufactured by branford lock works, branford, ct. the interior residential passage door backplate or escutcheon contains a nice and even black enameled inlay used to accentuate the casting detail. the single keyhole door plate contains two screw holes for mounting purposes. measures approximately 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches.
