19th century richly colored majolica glazed victorian fireplace tile set designed and fabricated by the united stated american encaustic company, indianapolis, ind. the group of four tiles were salvaged from a chicago residence built around 1896. the majolica glazed fireplace tiles are in great shape with no cracks or breaks. surface discoloration of traces of old paint evident.
