early 20th century original heavy gauge steel sectionalized operating room supply cabinet salvaged from the indianaapolis "state lunatic asylum" (later known as central indiana state hospital for the insane). the mobile surgical supply cabinet contains an unusually shaped, detachable top cabinet with a slanted front. the double ball finial hinged cabinet door retains the original plate glass inset. the cabinet's interior contains polished steel shelf brackets with original heavy plate glass adjustable shelves. the bottom portion of the step-back cabinet contains a single pull-out drawer with spacious inner compartment. the hinged solid steel cabinet door retains the original lever handle for securing the door shut. the medical cabinet is supported by diminutive cabriole style legs with original, fully functional swivel casters. the cabinet's exterior has been thoroughly refinished and treated with a clear coat lacquer. fabricated by the frank s. betz co., hammond, ind. retains the original lightly incised brass inventory and/or identification tag located above the pull-out drawer. measures 20 x 18 x 62 inches.
