original 19th century full-figured indian woman with her left arm crossed over her chest and her right arm grasping an oversized shield set against the base of the bottle. the product embossing is found along the shield, which reads "brown's celebrated indian herb bitters." the applied mouth is found directly above the feathered headdress. the oversized bottle contains a light yellow at the top that gradually turns to a dark brown amber at the very bottom. the indian queen bottles likely originated from philadelphia, pa. any and all traces of the original applied paint are long gone. the figural bottle was patented on february 11, 1867. designed and fabricated by neil r. brown of phildelphia and/or possibly the whitney brothers glass works, glassboro, nj. the rear panel near the base of the bottle contains the patent date. the highly collectible bottle contains a ground lip and smooth base. restoration or repair done on the front of the circular base (not the discoloration). no cracks or breaks.
