hard to find all original mid-19th century brilliantly colored emerald green "brown stout" "philly" squat glass porter bottle possibly fabricated by the dyottville glass works, philadelphia, pa. the intact early american bottle exhibits distinctive crudity based on hand or mouth-blown glass techniques used during this time. the long neck with applied slopping collar with single ring remains in good overall condition. the bottle contains a heavy slug plate strike, producing deeply embossed lettering. bottler patrick duross was based at 629 catharine in philadelphia, pa. the bottle's heel is smooth and stable. slightly raised base. no traces of iron oxide evident.
