original civil-war era antique american ornamental cast iron interior residential fireplace summer cover salvaged from a pre-fire chicago italianate rowhouse demolished long ago. the intricately designed pierced iron arch top cover was fabricated by the c.b. evans & co., cincinnati, oh. contains a mostly uniform black enameled finish throughout. richly ornamented with foliated scrolls and other design motifs popular during that period in time. measures 19 x 26 1/2 inches.
