original and intact early 20th century american arts & crafts ornamental cast iron "electric log holder" salvaged from a chicago bungalow residence undergoing demolition. the log holder was designed and manufactured by the electric fireplace mfg. co., chicago, il. the original metallic copper-plated finish remains mostly intact. the wire mesh is designed to support the colored glass "embers" that would glow with the use of two light bulb sockets found along the underside. the matching white ceramic sockets are original and functional. on/off toggle switch located on the left side of the fireplace grate. measures 23 1/2 x 12 x 16 inches.
