remarkable all original and largely intact antique american medical anatomical human eye chart or poster attributed to the denoyer-geppert co., chicago, il. the full-colored print or poster dates between 1930-40. the custom-built mitered joint varnished wood frame and clear plate glass are original and in great condition, considering age. the anatomical poster was discovered in the old cook county hospital. the detailed poster is divided into two sections, with the first illustrating the protective mechanism of the human eye. the other (bottom) section describes or illustrates sight as a function of the brain. the poster exhibits water stains along the left and top edges, but doesn't detract much from the graphics. the wood frame is structurally sound with surface wear evident from age. the original protective glass pane is free from cracks or breaks. the instructional chart or poster was likely used as a visual teaching aid for rotating residents and/or medical students. measures 32 1/2 x 44 1/2 inches.
