c. 1930's vintage medical "castle" surgical instrument sterilizer cabinet salvaged from michael reese hospital (chicago, il). comprised of heavy gauge steel with original faux wood grain enameled finish. original black porcelain enameled top. the sterilizer "boiler" unit retains the original chrome plated finish. the lid opens and closes by way of foot pedal. the four stationary legs feature a unique stepped or cascading profile. the rounded edge cabinet door retains the original clear beveled edge pane and faceted black glass cabinet pull. the cabinet's interior retains the original heavily reinforced glass shelves. off-white enameled finish largely intact. the castle name plaque contains an on/off switch and indicator light. manufactured by the wilmot castle co., rochester, ny. measures 36 x 16 1/2 x 16 inches.
