early 20th century antique american mission style residential cast iron mailbox with a nicely aged surface patina. fabricated between 1910-20 by the h.b. ives co., new haven, co. the wall mount mail box retains the original tin panel affixed to the backside. the hinged lid with lockable hasp opens with ease. the topmost slot was used by the mail carrier (i.e., for inserting envelopes and the like). the small grille or peephole, composed of triangular shapes, would indicate whether the box contained mail.
