pair of original 19th century american victorian era ornamental cast bronze cabinet drawer pulls designed and patented by pietro cinquini for the parker & whipple co., west menden, ct. in 1868, the parker & whipple manufacturing company was organized by john e. parker, h. j. p. whipple and other manufacturing investors at meriden, ct. to succeed an earlier firm called parker & whipple, which had been manufacturing locks since 1855. this new firm continued to manufacture locks until 1880. the uniquely-shaped iron pulls contains two opposed screw holes for mounting purposes. the front panel or face of each pull contains slightly raised floral motifs. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. patent date and manufacturer markings imprinted on the backside of each pull. measure 4 x 1 3/4 inches. priced for the pair.
